Warren MacKenzie, President and CEO

Warren MacKenzie has been providing investment advice to Canadian families since 1987. Prior to forming his own company, he was a senior vice president and financial advisor with two of the country’s largest securities firms.

Warren is a passionate advocate for investor education and complete transparency in advisor–client relationships.  He has delivered hundreds of investment seminars to corporations and public-sector organizations over his career, and is frequently called on by the print and broadcast media on issues related to personal finances and investor advocacy.  A prolific writer on investment strategy and retirement planning, Warren authored ‘The Unbiased Advisor’ and co-authored ‘New Rules of Retirement’, both published by Harper Collins. 

Warren holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.  After earning his Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, he joined a national firm of chartered accountants.  During his 12 years in public practice, Warren managed his own accountancy firm and worked as a trustee in bankruptcy. His professional accreditations include Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and Certified Hedge Fund Specialist (CHFS).

Beat Guldimann, Chairman of the Board

Beat Guldimann has 25 years of experience in global financial services. He holds a Doctorate in Law from the University of Basel, Switzerland and is a member of the Swiss Bar. His past roles in the financial sector include:

  • legal counsel at Swiss Bank Corporation Head Office 1986-1996
  • President & CEO of UBS Canada 1997-2001
  • Head of Global Private Banking at CIBC 2001-2004
  • Vice-Chairman at Hampton Securities Inc. 2005-2007

In the summer of 2007, Beat established Tribeca Consulting Group, a wealth management and governance consulting practice. TCG’s clients include various Canadian and international financial institutions as well as high net worth individuals.

In December 2009, Beat Guldimann published his first book: “Inside Swiss Banking: The Sudden and Seismic Transformation of a Global Financial Brand”. He is a recognized expert in the field of cross-border wealth management and private banking. He has been engaged as speaker by industry associations, law firms and other organizations and his book has been reviewed in the National Post, one of Canada’s major newspapers as well as Bilanz, the leading Swiss business magazine, The Washington Post and The New York Times. Beat Guldimann was born in Basel, Switzerland, in 1957, is married to Marcella and has three teenage children. Beat and his family live outside of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Ken Bradley, Vice President, Operations

As Vice President, Operations, Ken Bradley is responsible for client service delivery, back-office operations and internal business systems.

Ken brings to Weigh House 15 years’ experience in business process design and large-scale IT systems implementations. Early in his career, he was a business systems analyst, focused on sales and financial process design. Subsequently, he was a consultant and project manager overseeing the implementation of large ERP systems for clients in the U.S., Europe and South America. His international clientele included Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Degussa Chemicals. While his consulting practice provided opportunities to work around the world, Weigh House enables Ken to continue his career closer to home.

Born and raised in Milton, Ontario, Ken graduated with honours from McGill University in Montreal with a bachelor’s degree in commerce. He earned a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation from the Society of Management Accountants in 1996.

Donna Hall, Vice President Sales and Business Development

Donna is an experienced business development professional with over twenty years of proven results in strategically growing sales, revenue, profitability and market share. Donna has run her own business as well as held senior management positions with some of the largest financial services corporations in Canada. Her career has been predicated on successfully launching new companies, lines of business, concepts, products and services. Donna has a solid record of achievement in growing businesses from start-up to maturity.

After graduating from the University of Toronto, specializing in commerce and economics, Donna held management positions with such companies as Trilon, Wellington Insurance, CIBC and Spectrum Investments (mutual fund arm of Sun Life)

At CIBC, Donna was responsible for successfully managing a line of business with $21 billion of assets under management. As Vice President of Corporate Sales Spectrum Investments she developed the institutional business from inception achieving net sales of approximately $400 million over a two-year period. Donna also has proven experience in developing and building business and alliances with such companies as Sun Life, Royal Trust, Scotiabank, Credential Financial, MD Management, Desjardins, MRS and Mackenzie Financial.

Maulik Shah, Research Analyst

Maulik started his career by joining Weigh House as an intern. Driven by his passion and keen interest in finance he joined the company full time in February 2006. In his role, Maulik is responsible for the evaluation of investments portfolios and the creation of financial plans for clients.

He also looks after all the administrative and operational duties at Weigh House.

Maulik graduated from University of Pune (India) with Bachelors Degree of Commerce in 2004 and has completed his post graduation in Financial Services from George Brown College.

Maulik currently holds credentials from the Canadian Securities Institute and is currently pursuing his financial planning designation.

Dr. Samir Shah, CFA,  Chief Portfolio Strategist

Dr. Samir Shah is the chief portfolio strategist at WH. He is a CFA charter holder, a designation recognized world over as the gold standard in investment management industry. Dr. Shah’s first career was as medical specialist in India and during his medical career he was an active member of Indian Medical Association.

Investment management is his second career and it was his passion for investment management that convinced him to give up a successful medical practice and begin a new career in finance. He started his new career in India and then in September of 2010 became a Financial Analyst and in 2011 beamce  Chief Portfolio Strategist at Weigh House. Dr. Shah’s special interest is in risk management and diversification of alpha.
